A Nightmare on Elm Street

Yesterday i just watched a Nightmare on Elm Street, the new version of the old one with the same title which was first created in 1984. I'm a big fan of Nightmare on Elm Street and since 1984, there have been 9 movies on it, counting the latest remake. And i'm proud to say i have watched all. So my review on the latest remake is as follows :

I give it a rating of 8 out of 10 stars. Better special effects, good directing, only copy say about 40% of the original movie despite stating it's a remake and better acting crew. Basically what makes this movie good is the gore scene is much better than the old one. The only downside? As a true fan of Nightmare on Elm Street, the original Freddy Kruger played by Robert Englud is much much much more better. Out of the 9 movies, he acted in 8 of them. The new actor playing the role just didn't play the role way.

Freddy Kruger is my favourite bad ass villain. He's mean and sarcastic and at times playful with his victim. He's hideous and his appearance is scary. I remembered when i was little, i was actually afraid to watch him but i still wanted to watch the movie. So what's the problem with the new Freddy?

The new Freddy's face looks "very alien" instead of looking like it supposed to be burnt badly. His body movement isn't as good at the original Freddy. He lacks the height. And when he talks, he hardly moves his mouth. I just hate the way he talks, like as if he doesn't want to talk or perhaps he's trying to sound evilish sexy. Whatever. It didn't work on me. The original Freddy sounds menacing. Below is a pic of the original and new Freddy. You be the judge of who's he better one. Even the old Freddy looks more scary than the new one :

OLD FREEDY

This is the best horror movie franchise ever! I like the concept of how Freddy haunts you, through your dreams. I bet you didn't know Johnny Depp acted in the the original A Nightmare on Elm Street. He has a small role there. My favourite Freddy movie is Dream Warriors, i think it's Nightmare on Elm Street 3 (the one at the hospital). They should remake that but this time keep the original Freddy, or find a better one.
