The 901 Demo
On 9.1.2012, there was a street demonstration at the KL Courts Jalan Duta. Unfortunately I have to attend one court case there. The street demo consists of Anwar Ibrahim's supporters (go google if you don't know what's up with him). Purpose of the demo? Because the stupid supporters think by being there the judge will find Anwar not guilty of the sodomy offence. Or maybe they want to create some "action drama" if Anwar was found guilty. Anyway, the verdict was that Anwar was NOT GUILTY of the sodomy offence.
Im not a supporter of the Opposition nor a die hard fan of the Government. I just find politics in Malaysia to be boring, bitchy and dramatic. From the bombing of some Mongolian lady to a politician who likes "jambu men".
But I seriously HATE STREET DEMONSTRATION. I didn't even support the Bersih demo. Why do i hate street demo :
1. You never achieve anything by demonstrating in public besides showing just how many supporters you have for your cause.
2. Public nuisance.
3. No matter how you say it will be peaceful, a violent act, be it a minor one, is bound to happen.
4. You will attract people who have "bad intentions" who will disguise themselves as supporters of the cause.
And i'm always RIGHT (in the above matter anyway). So what was my experience on that annoying day of 9.1.2012 at the KL Courts?
Several days before the demo took place, i was informed by my friend that the KL Courts public car park will be CLOSED to ALLOW THE STUPID DEMO TO TAKE PLACE. Why in the f*ck did the government allow this BS to take place? The govt didn't give permit for Bersih but they gave permit for this? At this point, i was pretty pissed with the govt for allowing the demo. Why am I being emo about this?
1. Where in the f*ck am i suppose to park?
2. I have to get up EXTRA EARLY to avoid jams.
To further add on to my stress, my friend told me no taxis will be going to the kl courts.
So on that day itself, i woke up around 5 30 am and left the house at 6 30am. Reached courts around 7am and it was already packed with people and the roads to the KL Court have been blocked. I had to parked nearby to the income tax building (and the parking was damn far. It was a 10- 15 mins walk to the court. And i had to park illegally because there was no parking.
While walking to the courts, I have to walk through the annoying supporters of Anwar. A guy was giving out "Anwar Masks" and it looks freakishly creepy. It's kindda funny though to see men in "kopiah" and women in their "tudung labuh" attending this crappy demo. They are obviously supporters of PAS who support anything that is against the government. Security was tight like hell. If you claim you are a lawyer but don't really dress like one, they won't let you in.
There were many people but i don't think it reached 100k. The Opposition had made statements that 100k people will show up.
On my way walking back to my car, i saw this lady who brought her son to this demo and the child was in a wheelchair. Definitely a f*cked mother who don't care about her son's safety. Why in the hell do you bring children to demonstration?
Just shortly after that, there was a small blast and i was like deaf for a few seconds on the left ear. I was damn scared because the blast was nearby and some people were running away while some idiots just stood still and give me a hard time getting pass through them. I speed walk all the way to where I parked.
My conclusion from this ordeal :
1. You must be a sore loser to waste your time attending this demonstration.
2. Those responsible for the small blast could be from :
a. Anti govt supporters - to show pro govt supporters are not happy with the verdict.
b. Pro govt supporters - to provoke the anti govt supporters.
c. Assholes who just want to cause chaos - no need explanation for their motive.
3. No matter how you say the demo will be a peaceful one, there is bound to happen a violent event because the moment you gather people at one place, you can't be sure whether all of them are genuinely supporting your cause. Some would love to use this opportunity to cause chaos.
4. You are pretty f*cked up if you bring children to such place.
5. Old people or people with medical conditions who attend such thing are plain stupid and don't value their life. Newspapers are probably gonna report how "heroic" these people are for attending the demo despite their condition. I only see utter stupidity and ignorance on their health and people who love them.
6. Unless govt or some authority is gonna do something drastic which can affect your life or if it's a matter of life or death, street demo/public demo shouldn't be allowed. Street demo coz court is going to announce their verdict is stupid.
7. Street demo = public nuisance.
